As someone who has a hard time falling asleep at night, let me tell you: your bedding makes a huge difference. Just like a supportive mattress and quality pillow, bed sheets have equally important functions to helping you sleep better at night, cocooning you and regulating your body temperature when things get sweaty.

I rarely upgrade my bedding, but considering we spend a third of our lives sleeping, I thought I'd test out a new set of sheets this year to see if I could find a set that could check off all the boxes (those mainly being comfort, and durability, but if they possessed some kind of ability to help me fall asleep faster, they'd be awarded brownie points for sure). After hearing all the rave about the Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheets—which happen to be Oprah-approved—I decided to test them out myself see what all the hype was about. Keep scrolling to find out whether they're worth the internet and celeb buzz.

What happened when I tried the Cozy Earth bamboo sheets

I tested these bed sheets on my cooling mattress for two weeks and can confirm: these are the softest sheets I've ever owned. Sheets that I've used in the past felt like sand paper, but not with these bamboo sheets. These lightweight ones are constructed of 100 percent viscose derived from bamboo, mimicking silk and giving them a lush and extra soft feel. After giving the sheets a go, I found that these sheets don't rub against or irritate my sensitive and eczema-prone skin.

Since I have eczema, I find that heat-trapping sheets cause me to itch. However, bamboo sheets and pillow cases tend to be super breathable. "This type of fabric [viscose from bamboo] allows for better temperature regulation of skin, and can make for a reasonable option for those with atopic dermatitis or eczema," says Rachel Nazarian, MD, FAAD, a board-certified dermatologist based in New York. Naturally, bamboo sheets are hypoallergenic, anti-bacterial, and moisture-wicking, absorbing sweat—an irritant for people with eczema. As a hot sleeper, I don't find myself sneezing up a storm in my bedroom, which can get dusty from time to time, or busting out in a sweat. Count on Cozy Earth to make soaked sheets a thing of the past.

As a girlie of aesthetics, I love how these sheets come in five neutral colors, from white to beige to grey. Unfortunately, these sheets don't come in any bright or bold colors; however, you can decorate with ornate pillows or colorful comforters, if color is your thing. Since the viscose is weaved closely together, the sheets are pill-resistant and don't nick even against abrasive or sharp surfaces. With the proper care, I think these sheets will hold up for the long run. Plus, they come packaged in a reusable white tote with durable handles, making the set easy to store or travel with.

What's included?

Every sheet sheet set comes with a flat sheet, fitted sheet, and two pillow cases while the king set comes with king-sized pillowcases.

Sizing

The sets retail for (at the time of publication) and are available in the following sizes:

  • Twin / Twin XL ($255)
  • Full ($279)
  • Queen ($295)
  • King ($327)
  • California King ($335)
  • Split King ($351)

How to care for your sheets

The best way to care for your sheets is by machine washing them in cold water. The brand recommends throwing them in the washer on a regular cycle with detergent. Fabric softener or bleach is not recommended. You can also freshen up your sheets by hanging them in sunlight for a few hours every four to six months, per the brand. One thing I did notice after sleeping on the sheets is that they crease easily, so hang drying them might help with the wrinkles.

Since sleeping on Cozy Earth's bamboo sheets, I've noticed fewer occasions of itchy skin, sweaty nights, and disruptions to my sleep. You can snooze peacefully, too (fine, brownie points awarded). For a limited time, the bamboo sheets—which originally retail for $369 for a Queen—are being slashed to $295, a 20 percent savings.
